On April 24th, the Sant Pere i Sant Pau Civic Center in Tarragona hosted a workshop on Global Justice and Gender.
During the session, a documentary was screened that chronicles the pain and hope, reflecting the harsh consequences of the conflict that has affected the Democratic Republic of the Congo for nearly two decades. The documentary focuses on the violence inflicted on women and children. Following the screening, a debate was held to analyze the parallels between the content of the documentary and the current situation in our society in the Global North.
The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness among participants and the educational community about the critical situation of sexual violence faced by women in Butembo, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). Additionally, it sought to inform attendees about the illegal exploitation of mines and the smuggling of extracted resources, highlighting the presence of mafias operating in collusion with various political power entities and Western companies.
This workshop provided an opportunity to reflect and raise awareness about these global issues, promoting greater commitment and action in our society.
