SCOHS evaluation meeting in Ankara

In the frames of the S-COH-S project "Strengthening the social cohesion and capacity of local youth, refugees, and migrants through the creation of STEAM areas" a last Translation Project Meeting brought the project coordinators together for the final evaluation of the strategic partnership.

After a 24-month-long project, the meeting served to review the events that have been developed along the lifetime of the project, its achievements, the encountered challenges and to set up ideas for the follow-up.

This last Transnational Project Meeting was hosted on the premises of the coordinator organisation in Ankara, GÖÇDER-Association for Migrant Rights and Social Cohesion.

The meeting started with a review of the objectives initially planned for the project and its degree of achievement:

  • Increasing the self-confidence of the youth migrants and refugees and their sense of belonging to the region they are in
  • Preventing social exclusion and discrimination and creating an environment that supports interculturalism
  • Development of respect, tolerance, dialogue, communication and friendship between different ethnic groups
  • Including disadvantaged groups in social education opportunities

The meeting also revised each of the implemented activities developed in the frames of the project, including:

  • 4 Transnational Project Meetings
  • 2 Learning, Teaching Training Activities
  • 4 Multiplier Events
  • 30 STEAM inclusion workshops
  • 4 Intellectual outputs

Along the project 4 Transnational Project Meetings did take part, including:

  • The kick-off meeting of our project, TPM, hosted by AHEAD in Barcelona in August 2022.
  • The second TPM in Athens in March 2023, hosted by KEAN.
  • The third TPM in Milan in June 2023, hosted by Positiva Milano.
  • The fourth TPM in Klaipeda in October 2023, hosted by LTVK.

The Project has developed 4 Intellectual Outputs, that were presented through the implementation of four Multiplier Events

The project also included the capacity building activities with two implemented Learning-Training Activities.

The first training course was hosted by AHEAD and implemented between the 9th and the 15th October 2022 in Coma-Ruga, Tarragona.
The course brought together and trained 32 youth workers from the six partner organisations. The training activity equipped these youth workers with competences to implement STEAM inclusion actions at local and national level.

The second Learning-Teaching-Training Activity took place in Barcelos, Portugal, between the 14th and the 20th September 2023, and was hosted by SOPRO.

Within the scope of the project, each partner organisation conducted a total of six social cohesion and inclusion workshops, making use of the STEAM tools:

  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Music
  • and, Sports

The final conclusions of the meeting included other positive aspects, such as the interest and relevance to continue promoting STEAM tools to support inclusion and social cohesion. The relevance of implementing workshops at local level with young people, and its potential for development in each of the worked STEAM areas.

Also, it was highlighted the potential of the connections and the creation of synergies with other organisations: partnership and local that the project has allowed for.

It was concluded that the multiplier events with organisations in the field, and the workshops, need to be kept in further activities. Furthermore, as follow-up, appeared several ideas, including, the digitalisation of the outcomes and tools created, further exploring Art /Human Rights and an inclusion, the potential of using natural and cultural heritage, environmental education, bioblitz, and science/biology as inclusion tools.
