The first day of the training “Youth work De-constructing gender roles” in Comarruga (Catalonia) has been very fruitful. From the beginning lot of questions have been made, hoping to find an answer or at least a more clear vision for them.

One of the biggest surprises has been the task that two important local magazines “Lady Comarruga” and “The He” have asked to the participants; to write a Quiz that allowed their readers to discover how much feminine or masculine they were. Can you imagine how those quiz where? And what result would you get?

Mostly, the different activities developed were trying to visualize which social conceptions of gender each person has. Despite of the multiple cultural backgrounds represented in the training - with people from Armenia, Byelorussia, Catalonia, Estonia, Italy, Rumania, Spain and Turkey - when talking about gender roles, we all could easily see that the differences between our countries were not so big.

This is just one example of the various activities that during the day have encouraged the participants to think over their own stereotypes. Following the main objective of, through our own experiences and best practices, build a common knowledge.
