Within the framework of the project on 'social cohesion and inclusion through STEAM tools', last Wednesday, November 8th, at the headquarters of Fede.cat in Barcelona, we organized a workshop focused on the intersection of sport and tools STEAM, highlighting how they can be inclusive for migrants and refugees.
Despite the fact that sport is not initially linked to STEAM tools, the proposed activities integrated physical activity with themes mainly related to technology and mathematics.
The activities were designed to be accessible, featuring simple instructions that encouraged engagement and collaboration among participants. They also addressed universal themes, respecting diverse cultures and steering clear of stereotypes or cultural appropriation. Emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, language considerations were taken into account by incorporating commonly spoken languages among participants and addressing any doubts that may arise.
Some of the activities that took place were the construction of a pyramid card to know everyone's name, a mime chain about inclusion and creating geometric body figures.
This workshop is part of the final phase of the project, together with other workshops that will take place in various places in Barcelona. The next one will take place on Wednesday 22nd November at Casa Sagnier in Barcelona.
