Human Rights Education

International Forum on human rights education

The President of AHEAD Ljubov Lissina and the Programme's Coordinator Xavier Baró will take part in the Forum UNLEASHING HUMAN RIGHTS, bringing together about 250 participants, of which 50 are from world regions beyond Europe, and take place at the European Youth Centre Budapest from 9 to 11 December 2025.

The Council of Europe Youth Department and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, with their non-governmental partners including the European Youth Forum and Amnesty International, are proud to announce the co-organisation of a forum to critically review the status, achievements and challenges of human rights education for, with and by youth, as conceptualised and practiced by them and their partners.

Our Association was founded in 2009 by educators who came from the formal education, leisure education, and non-formal education sectors, and who worked at the local, national, and international levels for several European institutions. We firmly believe and actively pursue imparting knowledge about human rights since for us is not only crucial but serves as a foundational element in cultivating a society characterized by enduring peace, robust democratic values, and unwavering solidarity among its members.

And participation in such a Forum is important for us, and we are ready to bring our perspective and practice to be shared with all the participants and stakeholders.
