The Dialogue with the representatives from the European Institutions took place in the frames of the project "Listening Houses in the Democratic Republic of Congo" coordinated by the League of Peoples' Rights with the support of the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation.
The Development Committee of the European Parliament is the body formed by MEP that supports the Parliament in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Agenda 2030. At a time of growing inequalities and global insecurity they commit to eradicating poverty, helping those in dire need, and improving our relations with developing countries.
The team of representatives from diverse Catalan organisations had the chance to visit the European Parliament and dialogue with representatives of the Development Committee.
The EU's contribution to global sustainable development is vital, and the EU Parliament plays a key role in deciding the budget for EU cooperation and aid spending, keeping a close watch on the European Commission and all those involved in using EU funds, and shaping EU policies that affect developing countries.
The visit was an opportunity to explore the way of working of the DEVE Committee and their projects and initiatives in Africa, and specially linked to the project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The dialogue also served to explore the latest developments on the agenda of the Committee and the perspectives of the newly elected European Parliament and the MEP representatives recently elected.
